What does non-storefront retail mean?
Included in the Sierra High Farms business plan (and permit request) is a CA “non-storefront” retail license. As per the restrictions on such a license, there is no storefront, no public access, and no public sales onsite. This license allows us to take our products across the state of CA for display, sales, marketing, and competitions at State licensed cannabis events.
Just as with other agriculture products, the California State Fair now features a ‘cannabis hall’ with displays, education booths, and the state sponsored Cannabis awards.
From the CA state fair website:
The CA State Fair Cannabis Awards is a celebration of our cultivators, large and small, and represents another step towards normalization and a new conversation about cannabis.
Awarding cannabis flower and its unique compounds, the science-based competition is open to all licensed California cannabis cultivators, showcasing the diversity of our microclimates, appellations, indoor, sun grown, mixed light farms, and brands.
The Awards will reach a new audience and serve as a platform for consumer education and the role of the cannabis industry as a vital contributor to the California economy.
Closer to home, the license allows Sierra High Farms to legally deliver retail product to the homes of CA residents (Mono County restrictions apply). The sparse population of our valley and the fact that another licensed retail establishment in Mono County already delivers to the valley means this is not a focus of our business, however, we have included one local delivery per day in our traffic numbers.
The most important thing to remember about the non-storefront retail license is that there will be ZERO retail sales on-site, ZERO customer traffic, ZERO public access, and ZERO cannabis “events.” Other than the occasional (unmarked) passenger vehicle going out the drive, ZERO activities related to this license happen on-site.
